Senior Camper/L.I.T./C.I.T. Programs

The senior camper program originated in 1994 to challenge the older campers of the Summer’s Edge Community. Teenagers entering the seventh and eighth grade are eligible for this two-year program. In addition to the regular camp schedule, the senior campers participate in trip and travel programs to promote an awareness of outdoor recreation. As a component of the American Red Cross Swim Program, senior campers learn water safety skills and may progress to the Lifeguard Readiness Program.

After successful completion of the senior camper program, Summer’s Edge invites campers entering the ninth grade to apply to the Leader In Training (L.I.T.) Program. L.I.T.s participate in the American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Aid Course. The final program for adolescent campers entering the tenth grade is the Counselor In Training Program.

The Senior Camper Program has become one of our most popular attractions. Campers enrolled in Summer’s Edge look forward to their Sr. Camper years so that they can participate in the off site hiking and canoeing trips. If your teenager is interested in this program, register quickly for the past few years it has been our FIRST group to establish a waiting list.
